  • Frýdlant Castle

The Castle Frydlant is located in the southern part of the Jizera Mountains, just 12 km from the Polish-Czech border. It is one of the largest castles in Central Europe. Due to the modernization, implemented in more than six centuries, a striking combination of a Gothic fortress and a residence in the Renaissance style was created. The most famous owner was Albrecht von Wallenstein, a brilliant strategist, who commanded the armies of the Emperor during the Thirty Years War. The castle was open to the public in 1801 and now serves as a museum in which the castle's history is presented.
